Dentist Drops Job to Write Tweets
Kieran Drews strategy to quitting your 9-5 and monetizing your writing online

🪙 The Vault
After a year of writing on Twitter, one post gained him 2000+ followers overnight.
So he thought he had made it, quit his high-paying dentist 9-5 job, and then:
nothing.
Absolutely no money made for 6 months after quitting to be a full-time writer.
Until he struck his first client, and then his next, and then gained another 2000 followers, and then some more.
The Kieran Drew strategy starts as nothing, but compounds to a massive 200k following and 7 figure earning method.
Here’s exactly how it was done:
An Expensive Apartment or a Future?
This becomes the question that decides his fate, possession, or purpose.
In his early days still working, he has the option of buying a luxurious apartment because of his high earnings as a dentist, what he does instead:
Quits his job
Uses that money to sustain himself until he makes money writing
6 months of absolutely nothing, working 10+ hour days writing online, trying to figure out how he can possibly make money, and then…
He lands his first client.
How? Here’s exactly how:
Kieran wanted to improve his writing of Twitter threads, so he took on a 90-day challenge of writing 30 threads in 90 days.
By thread 20 or so, he felt he had gotten pretty good, and at that point, he received feedback from Twitter followers asking for help writing threads because of his skill.
His first “high ticket” sale was 10 hours of coaching a follower on how to write threads in exchange for $500. Little money for the amount of coaching involved, yet this is what sets Kieran apart.
His mental framework: It’s not about the money, it’s about the momentum.
Shortly after this challenge his account was picking up pace and was being recognized by large accounts like “Naval” who have been retweeting his threads and overall building Kieran’s audience.
As his Twitter audience grew, Kieran translated this into his email list which is now at a size of over 28,000.
To understand how he translated $500 coaching sessions to 6 figures in income, we need to break down his email strategy.
Building a 6-Figure Email List
70% of his list has been built from organic growth through Twitter, which is the highest-quality acquisition source.
Except, the traffic was built on a low-quality variable…
His biggest gift and curse: lead magnets.
Kieran built 8 free writing courses which he offered to his audience in exchange for their email address to his list. Although growing like wildfire, the churn rate was significant as well, and it led to poor quality subscribers only there for the free stuff.
After building his list to a few thousand, Kieran sent an email out asking his audience what their biggest struggle as writers was, the answer:
Writer’s block.
This led Kieran to build his first digital product which made up his first successful “launch”.
Through a series of emails, tweets, and tension Kieran built up a waiting list for this idea of solving writer’s block.
He created a swipe file of inspiration for writers. ( Commonly swipe files are sold for about $9, so if he wanted to make something impactful, he would have to change some things. )
So he changed the name of the swipe file to the Viral Inspiration Lab and made a special technique called the “looking glass technique that made his offer stand out.
The price: $40
Launching this to his audience he generated his first $5,000 in online revenue sales.
This success boosted Kieran’s authority leaving in effect:
increase in coaching calls
more swipe files sold
bigger audience
This brought Kieran’s first 6 figure year in the digital world. But that’s not it, he made 6 figures in an even shorter amount of time:
6 figures in 4 days
After this first launch, Kieran learned how to successfully generate a digital product.
This led him to spend months creating his next, “ High Impact Writing”. Here’s how he better marketed this launch, earning an additional 2 figures.
A couple of tweets —> Multiple threads and tweets on upcoming course
No direct communication with followers —> running Twitter spaces on course and Q and A
1 maybe 2 emails about the course —> 4 emails a day at peak about launching the course
no social proof —> retweets, testimonials, affiliates
Months in the making, and a grand effort to market his launch he set up the perfect scene for 6 figures to fall in his lap.
As the evening approached for his launch:
He called reservations at a local bar to have a date with his girlfriend whilst the money came rolling in….
But that’s not how it ended up working:
Only 1 sale in the first hour. What?
A 4-Day Rollercoaster
What an embarrassing story he would have to tell his audience, a failed launch.
But what he didn’t see was behind the scenes, social proof was at work. Kieran simply asked anyone buying the product if they enjoyed it to retweet and tell someone they know about it.
The next day,
still low sales, but slightly more than the first,
then the second day even higher, the 3rd still going,
Day 4 $85,000 in sales.
A total of $140,000 in revenue from this launch. All because of the compounding effect the social proof flywheel had on consumers.
But then he closes the doors for 3 months. No one else can buy his product.
Why would he do that? He had just made $140k in 4 days!
He had a vision no one else was seeing:
Launch 2
After 3 months, he decides to open up the doors again for the stragglers who may have missed the initial launch.
His goal was to make about $50k if he could, as he assumed the majority had already bought because a 4-day window is urgent!
Then he opens it up for the second time after 3 months and:
$180,000 in sales on launch 2.
How is this even possible, Kieran was blown away, and so was I.
All the build-up of testimonials, case studies, and social proof has compounded so large it added $40k to his first launch, upon reopening.
This created an evergreen product that Kieran now has available for purchase whenever you want.
The best part is that creators who do amazing feats like these are still human, and leave us valuable resources.
So what I’ve done is compiled the best books and resources Kieran said he used to build his 6 figure launch empire.
