My ideas on ecommerce before and after working with a true brand
I feel like I don’t have to explain the subject line.
It’s a known thing.
But what I might have to explain, is how this relates to e-commerce. ( Kinda my job at this point )
What you would think works in selling to customers online, probably doesn’t.
Yes, the common sales, discounts, and bundles work to drive revenue.
But only if you do it right.
And that’s where a lot of brands go wrong, they are doing sales and discounts wrong.
If you read yesterday’s email, I said I was going to jump in on my creative strategy for the campaign problem with the brand I am currently working with.
And here is that idea dump:
Educational Weekly Emails
Change the format of designed emails
A/B test everything
Now these might seem like simple fixes, but will actually take a lot more time than you think.
Adding educational weekly emails to any brand will instantly build trust and positioning with your customers.
Why?
Because now we are not just selling to them, we are teaching them about the industry like a friend.
Imagine you wanted to get into collecting rare baseball cards, and you had a friend who was really into them.
Let’s call him Bob.
You go over to Bob’s house one day and find out he actually has a business buying and selling rare cards, and you ask him to tell you about it.
Bob is thrilled someone tickled his inner ego and wants to know about his LIFE of collecting rare baseball cards
After Bob explains in detail the ins and outs of baseball card collecting he’s instilled trust in your relationship when it comes to this topic
Now when you go to get your first rare card with $100, guess who you are likely to spend that money with?
BOB!
It’s not rocket science, it’s basic human psychology.
As a business, we want to be that Bob to you.
We want you to come to us for all your baseball-collecting questions, thoughts concerns, and practically be your friend!
Because we know if you can trust us with being the #1 source of your baseball card collecting research, you can sure well trust we’re giving you the best deal on the highest quality baseball cards.
Enough of Bob and card collecting, the idea is trust earns sales, not saying you're running one!
The next time you want to sell something to anyone, think of how you can position yourself to be the #1 source of information for that person.
And then, without any sales pitch, they’ll be your first customer.
